For Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Applications

Sawyer is the largest fully integrated quartz SAW wafer manufacturer in the world.  Quartz crystal growth is based in Eastlake, Ohio (near Cleveland) and wafer fabrication is located in Conroe, Texas (near Houston).  Our high volume wafer manufacturing process uses semiconductor style equipment for wire sawing, beveling, lapping, polishing and cleaning adapted for the unique challenges of quartz wafer fabrication.

State-of-the-art wafer characterization equipment assures Sawyer’s ability to meet the most stringent of specifications and to continuously improve our processes to keep pace with tomorrow’s market needs.

We offer quartz wafers with typical specifications

  • 3-inch or 100-mm diameter

  • 0.25 – 0.50 mm thickness

  • orientations ranging from 25o to 42.75o

  • fine-lapped back side (polished or sandblasted options available)

Sawyer can accommodate a wide range of custom specifications for specialized applications including smaller and larger diameter wafers (up to 150 mm) and doubly and triply rotated orientations.
